ASSET PROTECTION/MEDI-CAL PLANNING:
We utilize the same Medi-Cal guidelines that the State of California is required to use to help clients and their families prepare for immediate or future placement in assisted living or skilled nursing facilities. Our practical advice with regard to asset and income limits allows our clients and their families to choose the most appropriate strategy to qualify for benefits.
We will assist with planning for Veterans benefits and advise with regard to qualification for the Veterans Pension Benefit if applicable or for the Aid and Attendance benefit for those who need care either in home or at the assisted living care level. We also work closely with our clients and appropriately designated partners through granting of Veteran’s benefits.
LONG TERM CARE PROTECTION:
As appropriate, we offer and will present illustrations/quotes for private long term care insurance utilizing, in many cases, the California Partnership policies, which offer greater asset protection, should Medi-Cal ever be needed.
We offer several options for funding long term care. When a dire situation arises, Medi-Cal may be the best option. Because statistics show that 50% of us will require the services of some sort of nursing facility, our preference is to review our client’s portfolio to prepare for the final phases of life as may be needed.
Simply put, the wealth management concept has evolved from executing trades to what is now the more formidable task of assisting clients with attaining long term goals. We will work to try to ensure that risk/reward levels have appropriate juxtapositions to portfolio allocations which are suitable for each individual client. We consider many aspects of a client’s lifestyle, taking into account age, investment experience, risk tolerance, short- and long-term income needs and overall goals. We will never recommend an investment or strategy before we have had an in depth meeting to gather all the necessary personal information. It is within these fact finding conversations that we begin to establish an investment strategy to reduce the potential that our clients may outlive their nest egg.
A QUALIFIED LIST OF PROFESSIONALS:
Where appropriate we refer to a statewide network of qualified specialists within the senior community. These specialists include (but are not limited to) Elder Law Attorneys, Home Health Providers, Board and Care, Assisted Living, Skilled Nursing, Acute and Sub-Acute Care providers as well as Certified Public Accountants.
